The Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has set up Mumbai's first public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at Dadar. On Tuesday, Maharashtra Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray inaugurated an EV charging station in the parking lot of the Kohinoor building in Dadar. EV public charging station, which can recharge up to seven EVs at a time. Importantly, this is the first facility of its kind to arrive at public parking spaces in the state.
According to BMC, the newly launched EV charging station will be open to users round the clock. Four of the seven chargers available at the station are fast chargers, which can fully charge an electric car in about an hour and a half. The other three are regular EV chargers that are capable of fully recharging an electric car in about six hours. BMC will charge Rs 15 per unit for charging vehicles.
"This is a step to promote the use of electric vehicles and save the environment," Thackeray said on social media after inaugurating the EV charging station. He tweeted, “Inaugurated EV Parking at Mumbai's Kohinoor Bhavan. This is very encouraging. Because, we are moving towards making Maharashtra electric vehicle friendly. ”
Aditya Thackeray also wrote, "We announced our state's EV policy about a month ago. It is a pleasure to see such efforts from all fronts. This is one of the many steps we have taken as a government to improve our planet. ”
Aditya Thackeray has asked BMC to set up more charging facilities for electric vehicles at various parking lots under its jurisdiction. Because "environmentally friendly electric vehicles need time". He said, “It is necessary to give priority to starting charging stations in areas where the number of electric vehicles is high. This should be surveyed in detail and charging stations should be made available at maximum parking spaces. ”
