Ola Electric today launched its first scooter S1 on the occasion of 75th Independence Day in India. Equipped with a very attractive style, the price of this electric scooter has been fixed at Rs 99,999. The company has introduced this scooter in two variants S1 and S1 Pro. Which competes with Bajaj Chetak and Tvs iQube in India.
Range available on single charge
The Ola S1 electric scooter gets a class-leading top speed of 115 kmph. Talking about the range, this e-scooter can cover a distance of 181 km on a single full charge. Obviously, this is definitely the best range for an electric scooter in India. Talking about speed, Ola S1 is capable of completing 0 to 40 mph in just 3 seconds. Ola started accepting orders for its electric scooter a few weeks back for a token amount of just Rs 499 and has garnered over 1 lakh bookings in just 24 hours.
The company says that customers will be able to buy Ola S1 and S1 Pro variants from 8 September 2021, while its delivery will start in October 2021. It is worth noting here, that Ola will manufacture the S1 at its recently developed two-wheeler manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, which is also the largest two-wheeler manufacturing plant in the world. The company is yet to set up dealerships in the states, and the delivery of these scooters will be done directly from the factory.
Ola S1 to set up 5,000 EV charging points in India in a year
The Ola S1 electric scooter uses a 3.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which powers an 11 bhp electric motor. This electric scooter has three riding modes Normal, Sport and Hyper. Talking about the charging time, the conventional AC charger charges the battery in 6 hours. But to facilitate the charging option for the buyers, Ola will also set up a Hypercharger network which will be the densest electric two-wheeler charging network in the world. The company will install more than 5,000 electric two-wheeler chargers in 100 cities in India in the first year alone. These fast chargers will be able to recharge the Ola S1 battery up to 50 percent in 18 minutes.
Talking about the features, the S1 gets an LED headlamp surrounded by LED DRLs, a silk front apron, curvy side panels and blacked-out 10-spoke alloy wheels. The S1 also offers segment-leading boot space as per the company, while Ola has already revealed that the S1 will be available in 10 colors with metallic, pastel and matte paint type options.
